I think it would be possible to make a red, green, and blue laser scan across an area very quickly in the same way as as CRT monitor and display color full motion video.

But apparently I'm wrong since nobody does that; we use expensive lightbulb projectors and LED billboard displays and such instead.

So really my question is, WHY NOT?

Disney's had the "Laser Light Show" at Epcot Center for like 20 years, and that's 3D.

My guess as to why it's not more prevalent would be the cost of lasers and the danger to J6P (joe six pack).

it relies on using galvanometers and mirrors as well as the fact that the point of origination of the three colors would be from different points. basically, the optics are extremely hard to line up and expensive to produce. very bright lasers are also expensive.

i designed a laser projector for school and did a whole semester of research on this. the TV linked above might be the first attempt at a consumer product, but im betting it will be insanely expensive. i hope the price comes down though because it is a cool technology, but not really worth it since it will be a lot more sensitive to shock (unless of course they have come up with a much more high-tech way of guiding the laser but i cant think of any other way off the top of my head).
