I'm writing a paper for a class on the History of Disease. My argument:

"The medical conceptualization, diagnosis and treatment of hysteria has been greatly influenced by gender ideologies."

I can still alter my thesis a bit if anyone has a better suggestion or some advice. While I do have some really awesome sources of information, I could still use a few more. Can anyone suggest any sources that are available via the web?

Maybe look for some old editions of the APA's DSM and see if you can find out what the old criteria for hysteria were?

What is the APA's DSM? Can I access it online? I only have about 2 or 3 weeks left, so I don't particularly want to search for anymore books if possible, shipping takes way too long!

Good idea...

I should have thought about that :)

DSM = Diagnostic and Statisticial Manual of Mental Disorders (currently in version 4)
