My PC is fairly quiet now but quieter is always better. Right now the noise makers are:

-In-Win supplied ps fan
-75GXP 45GB (very quiet seeks & relatively quiet motor)
-CPU fan (manually switched)

So, I'm thinking of adding this stuff:
JMC 80x 80 x 25 Fan $9.45
RDJD PGA 715 FanSync $14.50
Molex SilentDrive $34.95

The fans from rdjd.net are thermally controlled. I could use the larger heatsink anway so I can clock my C533A higher than the 825 it does now. The SD can be had from nedcomp.

The only thing holding me back is the thought of spending $70 for little improvement. I want the PC to be quieter in-use but silent in standby mode is also important.

Would I be better just manually switching the current ps fan so at least the PC would be silent in standby mode? If so, what about moving it to the front of the case instead? How about just getting a huge heatsink and not bothering with a CPU fan? I only use the current CPU fan when gaming as it is and the heatsink is relatively small (smaller than the RDJD 715).

I would still have to switch a thermally controlled CPU fan as it never spins down completely. Can the ps fan also be shut off without causing the ps to overheat when not in use?

I don't see why a 600W amplifier does not need a fan but a 250W PC ps does.
