I'm not sure if this should be posted here or not.

Anyways, I was wondering if there was any way to block people from using their web browser, but still allow the computer to access windows update.

This would be on a windows 2000 domain. It can be done at the user level, or at the computer level. Either one would work for me, I just need to do it. I don't want to get any 3rd party software, I would love to be able to do this as a GPO. Even if I could just disable internet explorer, that would be cool too. The user's aren't quite savvy enough to find another way around it.

There are probably few ways to go about it, and most of them can be defeated by knowledgeable users.

I use a third party Util. that let you make any exe file password protected.

Passwords protect all the instances of iexplore.exe on the computers of your choice.

The result, without a password I.E. will not start.

Put the term protect exe in a google bar you would get many choices.
