Progressive scan?

Excuse me for such a n00b question but what is progressive scan exactly?
I am looking to purchase a home DVD player & see alot of PS players.
Do I need a special tv (HD) or receiver to get the most outta these?

heh.

I coulda made a post that someone would say that, I dont understand why ppl are so uptight
about a slight mistake ( if it really is one?).


My home DVD player is hooked through my pc to coming out of my monitor= peripheral imho.
No offence I just see it to much in the forums.
