last night i did a quote for progressive, and with a second driver, and higher property damage limits the quote is quite lower than my current AAA policy and i'm contemplating switching.

what's your experience been with progressive? i'm keeping my AAA membership so i can have the tows/jumps/AAA club services, i'm looking for just insurance experience, i.e. claims processing, ease of talking to customer service, etc. i haven't been in an accident in years *knock on wood* but the last one i was in AAA made it pretty easy for me (of course it wasn't my fault, which made it even easier.)

They've been a solid deal for me. I haven't had to take advantage of any of their services however, so I couldn't comment regarding that.

I had them, and found them to be one of the cheapest for me.. and I did happen to file a claim once when I was rear ended. All it took was an easy call to the 800 number.. they assigned a local representative who came out to my place of work that day and looked at the vehicle for the estimate. I never even met the person for the estimate.. she found my car in the parking lot and called me later saying she had the estimate done. We picked a place for repairs.. it got done and that was that.

I use AMEX via Costco now. It saved me a few bucks over Progressive.

Same as PingSpike. I just recently switched to State Farm because they were cheaper and that's who my home owner's is through. They're a reputable company and I had no problems but I never really had to deal much with them.

No complaints here.

GF had her car hit on the 4th (3 series backed out of his garage a little too quick & rammed her parked car). He had progressive insurance as well, they're handling everything. Rental, repair, lifetime warranty on the repair, etc. All she had to do was drop her car off & drive away in the rental.

My only experience is that they wanted $200/yr more than GEICO for my car and truck. $500/yr more than boatus for the boat.

We have had them for a few years. Happy with their service - never had to ask them for money - but they were very helpful in a claim against another company. (Allstate).

i live in los angeles, which drives up my fears of my car being stolen or the extremely possible hit and run, and don't want to have to fight over my claims.

I've filed a claim with them and therey were quick and curteous, Same with the body shop they recommended.

On the other hand, they quickly raised my rates after I first got a quote from them (the reason I switched is because they were *so* much cheaper than MetLife,) then continued to raise them until I finally signed the contract. All in all, they were 15% higher than their first quote, yet still cheaper than my current insurer. (My credit is not that swell, so that may be the reason, even though they claimed to use my credit in my first quote.)

I had Progressive for 5 years. During that time, they were always the cheapest and had great customer service. Then they suddenly jacked my premiums up without reason or explanation (I have a perfect driving record, credit, and payment history). So I switched to another company for an even better deal than I had before. Buh-bye.

Progressive is what I use. Cheapest I could find in Phoenix. I've only filed one claim with them and that was for a windshield crack from a rock. They were very fast, very friendly, took care of it without charge (I don't have full glass coverage) and didn't raise my rates.

Progressive hooked me up with AIG and a jar of sandy vaseline. I switched to Geico and my insurance went from $2200 to less than $1000 for six months coverage on four vehicles and two drivers at 40+ with no tickets.

Progressive is inexpensive for me.

2003 Civic and 2005 Scion TC both full coverage 100/300/100 and 2 drivers for less than $100 a month.

Had them for four years full coverage with no claims, then I filed a hit and run claim with them and they retroactively cancelled my insurance. Bastards.

Yes. Moved from LA (the state not L.A. the city) to VA my rates went down by $300 every 6 months, and the level of insurance I carry went way up...

Houses the same way - less than 1/2
