so this morning i managed to scrape up the side of my car pretty good in the parking garage of my gym. pretty much i was going down the ramp to leave the structure, and there were cars coming up the ramp to park. i overcompensated and shifted too far over to the right so the cars could get through (i already thought i was pretty close to hitting the cherokee, and she was pretty far over in the middle of the damn ramp) and i wound up smacking the right side of my car into a barrier on the side.
i drive a little honda civic from 1998, so i didn't see the barrier on my right either. i usually avoid it because i move as far away as possible from the sides of the ramps because of this EXACT scenario.
anyways, i was planning on selling the car anyways, but now unless i get the body repaired (i'm fairly sure there's no frame damage, i didn't hit it that hard) i'm not going to get much for the car anyways. it's dented in on both doors, and the paint is also scraped.
i have progressive insurance. i was thinking of making the claim, NOT repairing it, and taking the settlement. then i'd probably either sell the car to carmax or to whoever wants it for a lot less than i had originally planned, and then going out to buy a new car. has anyone done this on progressive before? i was reading their website and it seemed like they'd only cut a check if you had already paid for repairs. i know my parents did this before in the past with AAA. i don't want to call to give them any possible red flags, although i did email their customer support.
no, i'm not scamming progressive, i really did bang the side of my car, and they can come stare at it for all they want. i just don't really want to bother repairing it right now since the car still drives fine, i'm expecting someone else in LA to hit me anyways, and i wasn't going to keep the car past this year.
and now i want a small SUV so i can see where i'm going. i'm already really short, i think i really need those extra inches to see what's going on.
