Programs won't install on Windows 2000

I just installed Windows 2000. While the OS seems to running fine other than any applicaton I tried to install gets some sort of error during the installiion. This has happened so far with Paint Shop Pro 7.02, MS Office 2000, Yahoo Messenger, CuteFTP. The errors each say something a little different but this seems to be weird. I don't have SP1 on it yet, but just downloaded SP2 to see if that might work. Any other ideas other than reinstalling W2k? Thanks

I believe I am on as an administrator. How do I check to make sure? Would that cause every program to error out? If that were the case I thought I'd get some sort of "You don't have Administrator rights" error message.

Or right click the start menu and see if it has options to explore/open all users. Does the error message allow you to ignore the error? I have a couple W2K stations that bring up that kind of error whenever you start a program installer. Haven't had time to look into it yet but choosing the ignore option seems to work.
