I know this is a really novice thing to ask, but I just built my first rig ever and was curious what applications are best for monitoring all aspects of the rig. I want to make sure it's not running to hot, the HD is reading and writing at the expected level, I assume I can just use the ATI application to monitor the GPU temps etc....

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the question also

For monitoring: CoreTemp, RealTemp GT, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, Sisoft Sandra, Everest, etc.

For stress testing: LinX, Intel Burn Test (IBT), OCCT, Prime95.

For benchmarking: 3dmark05, 06, 3dmark Vantage, PCMark, Nuclearus.

For HDs: HDTune, HDTach.

Yep spot on. First things I install on a new build is Coretemp, CPU-Z, GPU-Z, OCCT and I'm set.

I've discovered a problem with CoreTemp recently. I noticed it doesn't pick up my i7 860's multiplier correctly when Turbo kicks in. Up to a x22 it's fine but past that it just sits at 22. Maybe I've got an old version. I'm running 0.99.5.

EDIT: I just downloaded version 0.99.6. In a way, the problem has gotten worse. Running 0.99.5 with 1 thread of Prime95 on thread 8, CoreTemp did not show me a multiplier past 22, while CPU-Z was showing 24 or 25. Running 0.99.5 with 1 thread of Prime95 on thread 8, CoreTemp showed me a multiplier of x9. I tried one thread on thread 1 and CoreTemp showed the same thing - a multi of x9.
