Programs to find bottleneck in system?

Entity

Lifer
I have a PIII-933 that I setup at work which is running unusually slow, and I can't figure out why. Are there any programs out there which will identify a bottleneck in a system accurately?

Rob

I'm configuring the system right now - installing tons of applications from the Network. In general, installations seem to go slower; not only that, but when compared to a PIII600, it seems to run slower (less responsive) in general.

The NIC it has is a good NIC, so I don't think that's the issue...

Right, it sounds like it could be an insufficient ram problem, but you haven't listed the amount or type of ram you have. If programs are being installed and running in the background or launching at startup, that stuff can slow you down as well... Especially if you have a low amount of ram.

OOps ... forgot.. SiSoft Sandra 2001 or later is a nice system analyzer. This is a very good shareware program that can tell you many things about your PC. Earlier version won't be very accurate for newer hardware.

Of course the installations are going to go slower over hte network. If you want the installs to go faster, copy the files to your local machine then run the installer.
