Okay, I've been on the hunt for the BEST popup killer out there, that's not a firewall too, or a spyware, adware killer.....just a popup killer. I need to be able to add the popups to it that it doesn't automatically kill.

I HAD an old popup killer, but they went out of business, so compatibility is an issue with it. I need one that works well with XP Pro.

If anyone has any EXPERIENCE with popup killers that fit my criteria...PLEASE help me. I didn't think it would be so difficult to find one, but I've tried MANY and there are SO many that you can't add the sites it misses.

Oh, I've tried the google popup killer, and it won't allow to add either. Please help.

crazybrowser, it automaticly kills alot of popups but if someone gets through then you just select that tab and press f8 and it gets added to the list

one problem is that some popups spawn a new ie window outside of crazybrowser and there is no way to stop those that I know of, but they are very rare, go to www.photosig.com to see one of those darn things

I hate to say the obvious FIREFOX because it doesn't really answer your request, but they DO work very well :D

Thank you! Okay, I have crazybrowser. I see it in the corner (by the GO button)....but I don't see a way to add a page to it that I want blocked. I click on it and it just wants to let me move it. Right click on it brings up what buttons I want to show up. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, I just moved the toolbar down to get ALL options. All should be good from here. Let's see how it goes. Now, is this freeware or shareware? Looks to be freeware and LOOKS GOOD! Thanks again! I'll letcha know my progress.

If you are still looking for a pop up killer try POW from AnanlogX. I used it for a while but got tired of having to program it.

Unless they changed it, it works by using the text at the top of the browser as the filter.

For example and using this thread at the top says,
"AnandTech - Programmable Popup Killer Wanted!".
You would open up POW from the systray and double click "AnandTech - Programmable Popup Killer Wanted!" that is in one of the two boxes. From then on anytime "AnandTech - Programmable Popup Killer Wanted!" wanted to pop up, it would close that window.

Now lets say "AnandTech - Programmable Popup Killer Wanted!!" popped up. Notice the extra "!" at the end, it would not pop that, so you would have to program that. I believe it supports wild card, but I tried it and didn't work, probably was doing something wrong though.

FF + Adblock extension

You can block using simple patterns or regular expressions.

I can't see title based blocking being nearly as effective as url based. What do you do about blank or missing titles or ones generic enough that they occur often on friendly pages? With url based filtering it takes a week max to build up a list of the common ad servers used by your usual sites (or common ad url patterns) and then you see virtually nothing. for ff + adblock
