I can just imagine the possibilities with one of these? Have you ever played simon or gone to an arcade and picked up a foam mallot to smach those mechanical ground hogs that pop up? With one of these you could get real time feed back from your game about the status of health or ammo quantities! I could go on for ever on what could be done with this technology, but see it for your self and let me know what you think........

yea i saw that on engadget.. very cool looking... too bad it'll be 200-300 dollars when it comes out... but i'd be willing to save up for that just cause of how truely helpful it can be and how damn cool it looks.

I hear it will cost around $105, OLED is cheap to produce.

Repost or not, this is the first time I noticed it! VERY cool! :D :D

Not cheap, but uber-cool! If I had $100 to burn, I'd get one for the coolness-factor. I like this better than the projected-light keyboard where you type on any flat surface.

Ummmm, who is looking down at their keyboards? Sh!t like that gets you killed quick.

And how you gonna type that ingame message? Does is revert to normal when you press the Y /"chat" key to type some chat?

Not saying its not cool and wow factor filled, but a waste of mony is you think you would play better with it.

Thats relating to games, it could be cool for doing other things though.

It's open-source, so this wouldn't be a problem. Oncepeople start modding, just download the best profile for each game and your off.

This is a pretty stupid concept. Okay, yeah, it'd be really fun to look at, but that's about it. The displays (most of all, the connections between each key's display and the rest of the keyboard) would be prone to issues for obvious reasons, the enter key is all wrong, ergonomics probably aren't great...

None of us really stare at our keyboards, we TYPE on them. So why would you want a keyboard that's clearly made mostly to be looked at?

well weither or not you want to believe it that keyboard is the future only about 3-5 years quicker than i thought... at least at a $200 price range.

i can see it being very useful for programmers and graphics designers.

yes when you press the y button to chat since the whole thing is open source and will have a sdk you could program it to change to a regular keyboard layout to type something while you're dead and then press a hot key for it to go back. thats whats so cool about it. maybe you should read the article instead of just replying after looking at the pictures.

the only thing i can see being an issue is with reguards to spilling something on it (i don't drink near the computer anyway so not an issue for me)... i'm sure eventually they'll come out with a spill resistant version for that price though.

either way its a really creative and innovative concept.

more info here (theres a link on this link to the actual interview where all the info is pulled):

I have never known anyone in my entire life that has spilled something on their keyboard.

Get around much? I get around plenty thank you very much. Us Canadians are not so clumsy you know, yet we have free healthcare, go figure.

I can't believe people are bashing the concept. It looks sweet. When it comes out and it works like its supposed to, I'll definitley be buying one.

Ok, the first time I saw this, I thought, "What a waste of money! So what if it shows what each key does?" But as I scrolled down the page, and saw more of what it can do (such as displaying game key functions, in particular), I thought, "Well, maybe that is kinda cool..."

The only thing that would make this better if it was available in an ergonomic design.

One caveat, however, is that I don't remember hearing that the "blue-fade" issue with OLED's has been solved, yet. That being the case, how long will this keyboard last?

It is said that every aspect of the keyboard is completely programmable.

It was just an Idea to demonstrate some of the many possibilites with this technology. Any kind of real time information could be sent to the corrisponding key that controls a certain funtion. Games are the most common example.

This is awesome, the possibilities of what this keyboard could be used for in infinite, I'll wait to see how well it works when it comes out but I'll definitely keep my eye on this.

verypretty, but oled fades too quick. esp blue. kb is always on..? then again if you can afford it, you can afford the upkeep ..a luxury toy.
