Programmable Keypad?

I have been doing a lot of logical proofs in past, current, and future symbolic logic classes. In the future I will be doing a lot of pp presentations and word documents that include using symbols for logical operators. However, I am already getting tired of looking up the symbols in the insert menus. How involved (and expensive) would it be to get a programmable keypad and program it specifically for these symbols? Is there a better way to do something like this? I looked around a bit for a keypad but they are all relatively expensive, which I found strange given how cheap keyboards are. Any thoughts?

Can't you just get something like the Saitek Gamers' Keyboard w/programmable keypad? It's about $50 from Newegg. You can pretty do any key/mouse press combo in just one button press. I have one of these myself, the only downside is that the actual letters on the keys don't light up.
