Program tries to uninstall on right-click ...

I am using Windows XP Pro w/SP2 and all updates. Out of the blue, everytime I right click on an image file (jpeg, bmp, png, gif) the ScanSoft OmniPage Pro install pops up and tries to uninstall itself. What causes this? It has happened to me before with Norton ... Norton Anti-Virus would try to uninstall itself when I opened Word/Excel for a while till I broke down and reinstalled it. This is bugging me ... since it now happened with a different file type and program, it must be something in Windows that it causing the problem. Anyone ever come across this, know how to fix it or prevent it from happening?

Most likely it is caused by the software-enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enabled in WinXP.

You can try disabling ALL 'Startup' apps (Start \ Run 'msconfig') then rebooting (for a Clean boot).

The re-enable startup items.
