Program to Stress Test Hard Drives and Controllers

I just built a system with an Asus A7V133 with a Duron 1gig and 256 meg crucial ram. I've been noticing that when writing to the hard drives on either controller on the system, data gets corrupted sometimes. I've gone through every OS i can think of on it, and it seems winxp is the only OS that the problem doesn't appear on. However, I still don't fully trust this, and would like to run a program to do intensive writes and reads on the hard drives to determine if data integrity is preserved. Does anyone know of a program that will do this for me?
