is there a program i can download that will open a window and stress my video card? i guess im looking for something similar to prime95 for video cards.

yes that rhitjbl thingy one that does the HDR floating balls thing.....it works in a 640x480 window...and does a nice job of stressig ur card

Pong. *whistles* don't even get me started on that test. My 6800GT OC couldn't hit over 6fps, ran my card completely dry, I recommend you not run it unless you're very ambitious.

Wow, then I shouldn't bother downloading this thing (it takes 2 hours to download since I am on 56K)

HL2 is a good video card stress test, and it's free too, right Captain Blackbeard?

EQ2 at high quality. Now thats stress

No it's not. Everyone confirms that the GPU temp never gets near peak in EQ2. My X800 gets to about 68, but ATItool can get it way over 75. 6800 owners are reporting the same thing at the official EQ2 forums.

Do a search for 'the one ring' screensaver, too. It gets my GPU hotter than HL2 does on my rig, by almost 10C.

All the while chugging along at a speedy 10 fps. 😛
