Okay guy I'm looking for a program (hopefully free) that will allow me to cut out things like lyrics, guitars, drums, or whatever I want and leave the rest of the music untouched. Is there a free program like this?

No, you can cut out specific frequency bands, but you'll take out -all- sound within that range not just one instrument. Consumer sound files store all sound mixed together not in tracks/layers like at a recording studio.

Free: "Audacity" can probably do this, google for it and for pages on how to use.

Sometimes with more mainstream music you can find a good MIDI of a song, and the right player will let you mute individual instruments, instrument vocal melody is assigned to, etc. It's of limited use, but has at times worked well for some learning/recording purposes.

Would be especially hard with guitar, I think, as the sound will be all over the audible frequency spectrum.

I think this is the OP's best bet.

Download GuitarPro, which lets you open specially created tab files and midi. You can then silence individual instruments at your leisure.

You can get the songs at Mysongbook.com. The have literally hundreds of thousands.

I already have Power Tab Editor which I like quite a bit. I'll check out guitar pro though. Technically all I really need is the drums from the song. What I want to do is practice my guitar playing songs with the correct drums. I need to work on my rythm and this way's better for me than a metronome. Vocals aren't necessary but do help me know if I'm off or not.
