Program to convert DVDs to iPod format?

Hey all, I've recently decided I should start putting some shows on my iPod, and just wondered what programs you all used to do this. I tried Cucusoft, a program a friend let me use, and it seems rather antiquated. It basically just runs the whole show, and "records" it as it goes. I was hoping for something that can pick out individual chapters a bit easier, since I'd like to rip TV shows from DVD.

On the other hand, would it be easier to rip it to my hdd using DVDShrink or something like that, then converting from there? Or should I just go straight from the DVD?

thanks

You didnt get any responses because many of us are anti-apple.

DVDshrink just makes ISO's of DVD's for future burning. It wont help with your iPod issue.

I think Adobe Encore will let you pull individual chapters from a DVD and make them into MPEGs or whatever format you need to play on ipods.

Personally, I think you wasted your time and money getting a video ipod. There are so many other personal media players out there that can run a wider variety of formats and have bigger screens and more features geared towards movie watching.

Sorry to say it but I think you may get more help if you go to apple.com.
Try checking out their forums. I know the folks there have found out ways to do everthing you could want to do with an ipod, or are actively working on it.

EDIT:
DVDshrink may do more than just ISO's, but I never cared about the other things.

Hey, if given the option I would have purchased something else; I'm not a huge fan of Apple, never have been, probably never will be.

However, the store I used to work at had a liberal lost and found policy. Someone lost their iPod there, I found it and put it in our safe. After 30 days of no one claiming it, it was mine to take home. So while I wouldn't buy a video iPod, I definitly would accept one for free. :)

and PS. I did let it sit there for the 30 days, and nobody asked for it back. Not worth stealing :)

In that case you are one slick mofo and I salute you.

Still dont think you'll get much help here though. Try googling for some apple forums and help sites.
