Program to completely destroy files?

i've heard of a program that would pass over a file up to 37 times with "00000"s to make sure it was erased... i forgot the name of this program and i desperately need it. can anyone tell me the name of it or of other programs like it? thanks

Most drive manufacturers have low-level format utilities, find the one specific to your drive.

otherwise, you are probalby thinking of Active KillDisk, which is able to perform formats that meet US Department of Defense standards for security.

I like Restoration. It's main use is to restore files after being deleted, but it can completely destroy files.
