well I've finally decided to give in and start using id3 tags. reason being, I want to have better control over sorting and grouping my music. is there a program that can search for the filename of an mp3 in one of those internet music info databases and then insert id3 tags based on the info?

if you already have everything ripped to MP3 i don't see how it can be done if there is no information tagged already.
like Sid59 said , most programs just get the info from an archive online after reading the album info from the CD.
to input it yourself i like
MP3 tag clinic
good luck

Media Tagger will download and write ID3 tags to full mp3 albums (treating it like a CD). I don't know of a program that can do individual mp3s.

Ya know, I've been posting links to musicbrainz ever since it was released and not a damn person ever said anything about it!!! :p

Too many stubborn "use tag & rename" folks around here.

Musicmatch jukebox - does tagging through CDDB, other users lists (if CDDB doesn't have) and it can also tag intelligently based on filename.
