Program that tracks your processors stepping?

A buddy has a Dell centrino laptop.
I think that it's getting hot and going OMG!!!!!111one
I'm hot and then stepping down.

Anyone know the name of the program that checks for this

CPU-Z would tell you the current CPU speed.

True but I want something to track it such that it will be able to tell if it just drops while he's playing. So he isn't alt tabbing out all the time.

speedfan, i think you can set it to make beep's if it goes above the temps you wanted.
