I thought a while back I found a program that could play pretty much any video file or at least detect what codec was needed to play any video file. Does anyone know what it is called? Or even if I am sane 🙂
it won't play video, but Gspot is a program that will identify what codec a video uses. I have the K-Lite codec pack, and it's wonderful, but I've came across a few clips using some bizzare codec and without Gspot I would have been stuck as to what I needed to play it.
I have used VLC Player for along itme now. It works great for me. I dont have any codecs installed besides Divx and Xvid for encoding and of course the codecs that coem with Nero and other programs. I have yet ot find a file i couldnt play with VLC. If your looking for a no codec need program id look into VLC.
