Program folder starts when windows do! Quick HELP needed!

OK, Im visiting a friend that runs win98. Feels like 100 years ago bat anyway. When the comp starts up the program foldes srtarts too. WHY? I now there is a way to make this problem go away but dont remember.
PLEASE HELP QUICK!
