So, uhh, we invaded Iraq by mistake? It was all just a big misunderstanding, based on faultly intelligence, right? So why haven't heads rolled, why is it all being vigorously defended, and the "reasons" shifted around faster than the cards in a game of three card monty?

Because Dubya said "find me a way" in the first weeks of his presidency. Because the FUD of 9/11 provided the perfect backdrop, the ultimate innuendo. The only intelligence anybody wanted to evaluate was whatever supported that premise, and no other. Lies? Maybe. A conjob? most certainly... Dubya convinced many Americans that a toothless emasculated dictatorship was an "urgent threat" to the US and our interests, knowing full well that such was an exaggeration. If anybody here believes that the case for war wasn't oversold, I pity their family when they come back from the Auto Dealership....
