Well, they paid for the repairs on all the cars so the only ones that bring it up anymore are Nissan fanbois.

Toyota, those ricers aren't going to carry you forever!

LOL, you're getting Toyota mixed up with Honda. Toyota doesn't have much of a ricer crowd.

You haven't seen many MR2's, Supras, and Celicas around here have you?

The current MR2 is a frog-eyed convertible. The Celica is the only cheap "youth oriented" car that Toyota has right now (minus Scion). The Supra is dead (soon to be revived).

Honda OTOH thrives with the ricer crowd (Civic, RSX, S2000, Integra, etc)
The whole term ricer is retarded anyway.

There is nothing wrong with making your car the way you want it, people have always been doing it.

Are you sure???:D

Why not Japenese cars?

because i'm korean and i hate what they did to koreans during the Occupation and during WWII.

before people get on me about buying other japanese products, electronics and such, truth is japanese products have become unavoidable, i'm not going to deny that. i just choose not to buy Japanese cars as a political statement because of what the auto industry signified. during the '70's the birth of the auto industry signified the shift of industrial power from the US to Japan. even tho the ECONOMIC war is far from over and it's still debatable who is winning (US or Japan). the shift in manufacturing power from US to Japan was a HUGE economic shift. it's what made japan the 2nd largest economic force in the world today. well, mb the EU is larger, but they really aren't a single entity yet.

anyway, basically that is why.

Explain to me why it is ok to say to a korean it was the past GET over it and yet it's not ok to say the same to Afro Americans, to Jews, to American Indians.

the only difference is, i'm not claiming to be a victim. i'm not asking for a handout, i'm just making a political statement that doesn't impact you in the LEAST, so YTF does it bother you?

That's not a very practical action, and besides, Toyota has nothing to do with WW2. And, the Japanese did nothing to YOU.

does that mean i can't make a political statement?? NO one has ever explained why they find this choice offensive or why it bothers them at all. they've just insulted me about it. i find those responses ludicrous.

There's little you or anyone else can say to change his mind. We're just dragging the argument out further by talking about it. It's one of his beliefs - who are we to question what he believes in, wether right or wrong?

You have to keep the hate alive. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. When I drive my Honda I push it hard and make it suffer. Vengeance is so sweet.

Most westerners are completely ignorant of what was going on in asia BEFORE WWII. you've seen a few movies and that's about it. you have NO idea what the Japanese put other asian countries thru. you think what we suffered is relatively minor compared to what the Jews went thru for eg. that's just plain IGNORANCE.

It's amazing to me, i was talking to a jewish friend of mine who WON'T buy German cars and yet finds it strange that i won't buy Japanese cars. Why is it OK for him to take a stand and not me??

it's because of his ignorance. he had no idea what the Korean people went thru under the japanese occupation.

"keep hate alive" BS. it's about NOT forgetting. people who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

most of you americans have NO idea what the japanese are capable of. You even believe the japanese are allies.

Really.... LeeTJ, we're all happy to know that you're a racist, and we're really happy too that you have found a nice way to express it and to justify it, but it's a wee bit off topic for this thread, don't you think? Maybe you should hijack another?

On topic, Toyota makes some damn good trucks, don't they? My '93 with 120k miles drives like a brand new truck still.

Can anything stop Toyota Motor Corp.? On Thursday, the leading Japanese automaker is expected to announce net profits of roughly $8 billion -- more than any Detroit automaker has made in any one year since at least the 1960s and more than GM, Ford and Chrysler combined made last year.

:Q:Q

Well, that's what the unions have done to manufacturing in this country. Is anyone surprised? Hello! Wake up call! You can't get rich by demand. It's called 'biting the hand that feeds you.'

Damn good cars too. My '95 Camry LE has 122,500 miles on it and is still smooth and efficient. Sure, I hear a few squeaks every once in a while, but the damn thing is nearly 10 years old:p

if you want me to stop, why do you guys keep directing comments towards me??

where did i say i had EVER expressed hatred towards a japanese person?? i never have, i've been close friends with many japanese people i've met. I never have a predisposition towards japanese, but it doesn't mean i can't make a political statement about what the japanese people have done.

poor quality vehicles, poor sales.

ford and such even admitted they weight the cost of people lives compared to how much it would cost to make the vehicle safer [ie fuel tank location and shield guard]

oh but the extra $7 per vehicle is just too much, BOOM!

Shouldn't be too surprising, this is ATOT afterall. :p

Um, isn't Toyota Japanese? Didn't you say that you would buy a Lexus/Toyota? But you won't by Honda because it's Japanese?

There's nothing wrong with making a statement, but is it really worth it? IMO, it's not when you end up hurting yourself

Do you look at everything you buy to make sure it doesen't have a made and/or designed in Japan sticker?

I understand why people flame you for it, it seems like a knee-jerk reaction to something that happened in the past that you don't agree with.

It just seems that there are far more productive things you could do with your views.
