Profiles for network settings ? Different user accounts?

A neighbor of mine wants me to help her configure wireless networking in her house. The router is all set, it's DCHP table shows the laptop. The laptop can ping the router... etc. Now, i noticed in her lan settings for IE, that she has proxy servers set for using the laptop at school. I was wondering if i need to make a new user account on the laptop? for using wireless ? Will the original account still hold the proxy server settings? is there a way to swap between the 2 in any other way?

Thanks

p.s her machine is win2k

Actually, you would be better off creating a HARDWARE PROFILE for
each instance (Home - School).

She then will be able to choose which Profile at BOOT.

go to Control Panel \ System.
select the Hardware tab, and click Hardware Profiles.
You'll see the Hardware Profiles dialog box.
By default, the dialog box shows only one profile. To create a new profile,
click Copy and type a name for the new profile.

You can change the current profile's system settings (e.g., change display settings,
network settings, use Device Manager to disable devices). The Registry records your
changes, and the changes will affect only the current profile. The next time you start
you'll have the option to select either the current profile or the new profile you created.

No she doesn't need to have a new user account to use the internet connection. Set IE to auto detect proxy, that way it will work with proxy or non proxy network.

Make sure both router & network card is set to the same channel, secure ID, WEP & encryption key bits.

You don't have to create separate profiles, because Windows will default to the local profile that is in the computer if it can't find it domain/server.
