Profile and email visibility?

I hate to expose my email address to the email address "miners" who collect them for sale as legit email address collections. I hate to be spammed. I hate having to delete so much of my email. I try to remember to always change my email address before I make a post to any newsgroup.

Does anyone know for sure, is the Anand forum capable of being automatically "mined" for its email addresses? This is the only reason that I have my profile and email visibility set to "no", as I certainly don't mind direct contact between AnandTech members.

It can be mined manually, which is an utter pain. I've had mine visibl for over a year, and the only spam I've gotten has been the direct result of my own stupidity in signing up for crap I don't need/want

You can put your address in your sig in some nonmachine readable format...

user (at) domain dot com

and keep it turned off in your profile.

you could get a expiring email address from here http://www.mailexpire.com/ It just forwards the email to your home account and if you start getting spam you just cancel it. The longest they have is 3 months though. Not sure if it can be extended.
