Professor gave me a hard time

Hi, some of the professors at college of dupage and at University of Illinois at Chicago gave me a hard time / harassed me. I confronted one of them about it, he told me not to take offense to it. So I am unsure of what the motive for the harassment was, but what should I have done? What is the procedure for something like this? Why would any professor ever harass a student?
I ended up quitting school (mostly because of the harassment) and I started up again and got my degree from an online school.

It depends. What type of harassment? If it was sexual, then you could take it to campus security and probably get him fired.

If it was because you were late to class, turned in homework late, or didn't shower for weeks on end, then it was probably justified.

Its hard to understand without more details.... I harass students all the time, but never in an unjustifiable way. If I'm annoyed with a student, I let them know.

generally if he was giving you a 'hard time' college professors can do anything they want. its their class and if they dont like you they can ask you to stop coming and the univ. will give you a refund in most cases if he insists you be barred from his classroom.
