Guys, I am building a system for a friend that work with cabinetvisions cad/cam. He needs a great video card to speed up rendering, and be just about bulletproof. I dont know much about the professional video cards, so I am turning to you guys. He is looking at a 7/800 dollar video card to build his system around. I need the absolute best solution. Thanks!

Rendering in CAD is generally done on the cpu except for previews. Without knowing exactly what program and its version number and OS used it is hard to recommend anything.

he is using windows 7 ultmate with planits cad/cam software called cabinet vision. I am building the machine, so the cpu im sure is going to be at least a core 2 duo...

Make sure the application explicitly supports the Quadro or Fire series professional worksation graphics cards. Many design applications do not support the optimizations offered by the professional graphics hardware. Otherwise, you're just spending more without any benefit.

Planit Fusion (formerly produced by 20-20 Design) does not seem to make use of these professional hardware optimizations. Not sure about Planit's Cabinet Vision because its website appears to be down for me.
