I have a hard drive that was dying and now it refuses to mount at all. Is there anything I can try to get the data off of here?

Prosoft Data Rescue 3

Otherwise, pay thousands of dollars to a recovery company with a cleanroom.

If you're data are really that worth and important, you will have less hassles if you consult it to a professional data recovery service like WeRecoveData.com, as I think they provide free consultation and evaluation and could give you valuable ideas on how to recover your data as they are more experience in the field and do have advance and safe recovery methods to get your data back.

Question for any that have sent something in: I have a SD card that looks like its I/O chip(s) got fried so I need to send it somewhere to have the actuall memory modules read to recover the data. Anyone know a decent place that does this?

Drive Savers or Kroll Ontrack?

Be prepared to spend a lot of money.

I tried Data Rescue 3 and it kind of worked but didn't. It finds some files and fails after a few hours. Must have been a bad crash.

I guess I'll have to eat the data loss.

I haven't heard much about that DriveSavers and Kroll deal with fried SD medias. But from what I can tell WeRecoverData.com has a specialized R&D and more advance state-of-the-art facilities that has a high recovery success rate that caters even on severely damaged storage medias.
