Today after I powered up my PC and tried to log in the "Let's activate Windows" screen appeared. Only problem is that I activated Windows 1.75 years ago when I built the PC. I could not log into my account or anything. There has been 0 product Changes in the past 2 months.

The only hardware change ever was when my videocard died(Ti4200) and I temporaly used a different card(ATI ??) for trouble shooting and then back to the original model when the replacement arrived. And that was at least 2 months ago.

I also installed SP2 a few weeks ago. To make things worse I could not re-activate windows online and had to call that 800 number and enter a stupid 56 digit number and then re-enter some insanly long number just so I could use my freakin computer because Microsoft though that I was a pirate.

Windows and everything on my PC is payed for and legal.

Has anyone seen this before? What could of caused this?

Next time choose to speak with a CSR, and explain the situation.

They don't necessarily think you're a pirate, it's also to protect you in case someone stole your Product Key.

The MOST serious problem with copy protection / product activation is that it inconveniences the legitimate customers much more so than the pirates. Pirates use a VLK (volume license key) and never see a problem, while you, a legitimate customer, are inconvenienced and bothered.

It is caused by corruption of the wpa keys.
could be resolved by renaming them and extracting off the xp cd or by repair install and activate over the phone.
Happens all the time.
Just happened to corrupt that part of your system.
would probably be a good idea to run a sfc /scannow from the start-run , and see if any more files
need repair/replace.
good luck
