From this week's New Yorker, an article by a Hollywood therapist about writers block and procrastination

Every time you procrastinate or waste time, you're defying Father Time. Procrastination is a spurious form of immortality, the ego's way of claiming that it has all the time in the world.

I've seen a lot of explanations about procrastinating (much more fun to read about procrastination than it is to just get up off my chair and do something) but this is either a really insightful observation from a smart guy, or the stupidest suggestion ever.

Personally, I think I procrastinate because I'm lazy, but I prefer his idea.

next time the boss gets on my ass, I'll just be like, "Sorry, the ego is fighting for immortality. Nothing I can do right now." :\

then get back to neffing.
