I'm running XP with 1 admin account, for gaming pourpse i created another account, a limited account, however with limited account it wont run some of the programs like xbconnect and wincap, (if anyone can tell me how that will be appreciated) so i changed the account type to administor, it then let me run xbconnect with no problem. the reason why i make a new account is cuz i have a lot of process running under my admin account, the new user i created only have maybe 3, but now today when i am on my new account, all the process that were running on my admin account is running under that account now, and when i switch back to my admin account, only 4 or 5 process are running, i tried to switch back and forth with the limited or admin account type for the 2nd account.. still gives me the same.. what is wrong with my OS?? plz help.. thanx..

First, you might want to post your XP questions in the Operating Systems Forum...:)

I may not completely understand what you're up to, but I don't think that you'll necessarily reduce the number of processes running on your machine by setting up separate accounts. Right now, my task manager tells me I have something in the order of two dozen processes running but only two applications. Most of these processes are for the operating system, or are add-ins at the operating system level (such as anti-virus and firewall). I believe they will all still be running regardless of what user account you use.

As their name implies, "limited" accounts have restrictions that prevent thier users from performing functions that XP thinks might be risky to your system. I don't remember what they all are, but one example is that programs can not be installed using a "limited" account (making it a great way to prevent teenagers from installing all sorts of internet trash). Unfortunately, older software packages and games often try to do things that bump into these restrictions. For instance, the spell checker in Word 97 will not function in a "limited" account.

There is a way to run programs using the rights from different (less limited) account using the RUNAS command. I did use it a while back, but you'll be better served looking it up in XP Help.
