I was wondering is it worth switching to 64 bit now or should I wait until there is software that requires it, possibly more towards september time? I'm mainly a gamer so I don't know how important it for me to change at the moment.
Also could someone explain dual core processors.

CPU tab at the main AT site has tons of articles.

Dual = 2 on one chip. Games only use one of the 2 right now, see benchmarks under CPU tab

64-bitness isn't the reason to buy an AMD A64, speed and cool running is. Current P4s are slow and hot.

Did I mention the CPU tab?

If you're buying a new processor for a gaming computer, get an Athlon64 of some variety for sure. What kind you get is going to be dependent on your budget.

What do you have now and what kind of budget are you thinking for new parts?

IF you're buying a new CPU, then get a 64bit one. But you don't really NEED it yet, so don't go out and buy a new chip now if your current one is doing fine.
