I have a KT7-raid board with a 650 duron and 256 meg of ram. I recently installed XP on this system and it bogs down a little bit. I was thinking of getting another 256 meg of memory and was wondering about a new processor. I'm trying to keep the whole upgrade to around $100. It looks like a Duron 1.2 is about the same price as a 1.2 Tbird. I know the KT133 boards do not officially support the durons at that speed but it sounds like most people do not have a problem with it. Which one will give me the bigger bang. In looking at the reviews, they use different benchmarks so I can't compare apples to apples. Its mostly for general computer needs with the occasional MW4 or Diablo 2.
On a similar note, what are the cooling requirements for the duron 1.2? Would the oem fan that I got with my 650 be sufficient for it? (I know it will not have a pray with the tbird.)
