Processor Upgrade Question

I have a Pentium II/233 computer that I am looking to upgrade to a Celeron 1.3 with a slotket. Would this work? If BIOS information is revelant, I can get. Thanks a lot.

most likely you will not find a bios update that will allow that. i used a slocket an an old BX board to upgrade from a PII400 to a 850. Could have gone to a gig, but cost didn't warrant it at the time.

You must make sure your MB supports 100MHz bus processors. The PII 233 was 66MHz bus unit. Does the MB use 168 pin SDRAM or 72 pin DIMMS?? If it is 72, it's nop for sure. R

Unless you are getting the parts for free, it would only be about $45 more to get an Athlon XP 1500+ and a cheap Athlon XP motherboard. If your case, power supply, memory, etc. are compatible, you would get a lot more bang for your buck from that kind of upgrade. If your memory is the memory that originally came with the sytem, though, it's probably not compatible.
