Processor Pairing for an 8800GT

I'm out of the hardware loop and need some advice. I got an 8800GT and a good mobo to pair with what I've narrowed to to either an E6750 or a Q6600. (and probably 2 gigs of ram unless I should go to 4?)

My question really is: Will the 8800GT be limited by the processor with the E6750, and will the Q6600 provide a significant boost? I'm trying to run call of duty 4 here.

Thanks

Neither is going to limit the 8800GT in today's games, and for a game like COD4 you probably won't see any increase at all by going to quad core.

If you aren't doing any heavily parallel tasks, such as video encoding or ray tracing, you probably won't see any benefit from quad core. (There are some games, like Supreme Commander, which do use more than two cores. They're rare, and they're perfectly playable with only two cores.)

DSF nailed it.

Neither CPU will hold back 8800GT, and for games specifically E6750 will be faster than Q6600 since each of E6750's cores is faster than Q6600's.

Grab 4 GB RAM while it's cheap. But keep in mind 32bit OS will only use ~3.2 gb if it.
