I've got 2 abit BH6's and one abit BP6 board. Can someone give me some suggestions on which processors would be best to use ? curently, i've got a celeron 300 in one bh6, a celeron 333 in the other, and two 366's in the bp6.

Processors are cheap and ram is cheap right now. I am not interested in buying a whole new computer to get 1.5-1.8 ghz, but how fast of a processor will I be able to use with what I've got ? Overclocked or not, what is the best buy right now ? Will I still be able to use SMP in my bp6 with the p3's and faster celerons ?

thanks

jt

The best place to check is the Abit website to see if they have any BIOS updates to support higher processors.

Since the BH6 is a relatively old BX it might not be able to run at 133FSB. Most newer BX can do that subject to AGP card limitation I guess. I have an BE6-II and after BIOS updates it can take all variants of PIII all the way up to 1GHz.

The BH-6 is perfect for the Celeron 633 FC-PGA running at 9.5 x 100 FSB. The upgrade can be had for less than $50 shipped from many net vendor. It actually can support higher than 9.5 multiplier, but the 633 is the best bid for overclocking.

Make sure that you get the latest BIOS (BH6_SS.exe) from the Abit site.

I agree with thermite...get yourself some celly2 and a slot adaptor for the bh6.
It's cheap and quite fast...
Other option would be to plug in some regular P3 up to 1 GHz, but that would be more expensive...

Many people have reported having success with BH6 + Pentium III 1Ghmz (100fsb).

Uh, forgot to comment on the BP6...
BP6 is not running FC-PGA (are there socket-to-socket-adaptors around?), so maximum here would be a Celly1 533...if you can get one...

Some slockets have a built-in PPGA to FC-PGA converter so you could put in any Cu128 CPU in it. The safest bet would be a Celeron2-533 or 566, which you would overclock to 800 or 850, respectively. I wouldn't bank on running your FSB at 133MHz.
