Processor not booting up...Need some help!

Hi guys,

Well, last night I cleaned out my case, and after re-inserting my XP2100, the processor won't boot up.

I'll tell you exactly what I did so that no details are missed.
- Put in new Aspire 500W power supply
- Cleaned out case and dust, etc.
- Installed secondary hard drive connected to ATA-PCI card
- Installed ATA-PCI Card

Once I restarted my computer, no video happened, and the computer gives a few beeps. I tried the D-Link, and it gets stuck on the seventh process (Processor Initialization)

Does anyone know how to fix this? The chip was working absolutely fine before I re-seated it.

Are you sure you didn't damage it when you reseated it or remounted the HSF?

Pull the new PCI card. Try again.

Listen closly to the "few" beeps. Search for the beep codes for your BIOS/Mobo they will point you to the problem.

Does that mobo use the little 4-pin square ATX12V plug? If so make sure its plugged in. Other than that, try putting in the old PSU. If neither of those are the problem, try putting the CPU in another mobo, or another CPU in the mobo. Good lucK!

Also confirm that your heatsink is on the right way. Remember that the "melt-to-fit" thermal patch on a retail AMD heatsink (or similar) is a one-use-only patch and after it's melted to fit, you should replace it if you take your heatsink off. If you used thermal grease then disregard

Could be that one of your cards or your memory isn't fully seated anymore too. Firmly re-seat everything while you're in there. Good luck Teclis2323

(edit for bonus tip: check the new power supply to confirm it's set for the correct voltage, 115V / 230V, on its little slide switch on the rear)
