Processor identification issues

Ok, I have 3 systems:

Shuttle SB51 - 2.26 P4 - Intel 845 chipset
Shuttle SS51 - 1.7 P4 - Sis 651
HP/Compaq d530 CMT Workstation - 2.8 P4 - Intel 865 chipset

And with them 3 P4 processors. Now ideally, I want to move the processors around to get the best speed out of what I am using each system for. Problem is, it seems the P4 chips only want to work in certain systems.

The 1.7 P4 works in either Shuttle fine, but the HP doesn't boot with it.
The 2.26 P4 works fine in any system.
The 2.8 P4 only works in the HP, the other systems won't boot with it.

All the processors are socket 478
The 2.26 is a 533 bus speed chip with 512k L2 cache, F24 stepping
The 2.8 is also a 533 bus speed chip with 1024k L2 cache, F34 stepping
I'm not certain on the 1.7 right now

I have updated the BIOS on each machine, and still the problem persists. I'd rather not have the 2.8 in the HP, as it is the machine that actually gets used the least amount and would be fine on the 1.7.

Any ideas?

just wondering if anyone can explain whats going on. Like any information I missed on chipset/processor compatibility.

The 2.8 is a 533Mhz bus Prescott, which explains why it only works in the HP.

The 1.7 is probably a 400Mhz bus chip, which explains why it won't work in the HP. 865 does not support the 400mhz bus chips.

The 2.26 works in all 3 because it is a 533mhz bus Northwood, which all of the boards support.
