I just installe an AC Freezer Pro 7. Works wonderfully. Q6600 idles at 37,37,38,38.
One thing that worries me is when the temps are this low, the fan cpu cooler shuts off, and just sits there and spins a little every so often. Is this normal? I was going to set it to a certain speed in the BIOS, but is there such a thing a cooling your cpu too much?

Thanks to all. I just want to make sure it's running right before I attempt my first OC. Going to try and keep it stable at 3.0

Edit:Monitoring temps using CoreTemp 0.97.1

Edit: Ugh. Must've done something wrong. Just to check my temps out I ran AVG Virus scanner and played some CSS to see what my temps did. Got up as high as 60-64 across all 4 cores. Suggestions? I've checked all the pins to make sure they're all sunk correctly, and my temps aren't too off from each other.

No, there is no such thing as "too much cooling". On the other hand, running the fan faster also gives you more noise. As long as the temperatures are OK, I wouldn't worry.

your idle AND load temps are normal. actually, your idle temps are probably being misreported by coretemp. I highly recommend the realtemp thread here:

your load temps are accurate, 60-64c is actually quite low on a quad at load. try running prime 95 v25.6 and watch that heater get up to 70c :p

edit: btw, my x3350 @ 3.6 loads in 4 instances of seti@home at 33/38/42/40 distance to tjmax with ambient right now at 26c. cooler is a tuniq with antec 900 case, all fans on medium other than top 200mm fan on high. my q9450 @ 3.4 loads seti at 31-37 distance to tjmax on all four cores with ambient at 22c on an antec 900 but using a zalman 9700 instead of a tuniq.

Thanks for the advice. The temps settled a little bit, possibly because of the thermal grease curing slightly. I also have the 900 case, I have all the fans, including a 120 added on the side window maxed out. I have great headphones so noise isn't really an issue for me.

Going to re download prime and run for a while, see what happens. Is there any way to set my cpu fan to run maxed out, regardless of temp in my mobo bios. I'd rather do that then download a program to do it for me. I've looked through my bios and the only options I can adjust for the cpu fan have to do with voltage and auto or pwm.

If you have a 4 pin fan and its set on AUTO then that is why the fan stops spinning. It happend with my cooler also. If you select PWM the fan should run at a minimum of around 700-750RPM. If you have a 3 pin fan then you want to set it to voltage.
