Have you taken a look at the RAM? Do you have three 2GB DDR2 sticks already installed? Then adding a fourth shouldn't cause any issues.

As for the processor upgrade - consult the manual.

It is quite common that the WIN 7 System Window would state x64 based, which means that CPU is x64 capable.

Then, a line or two bellow it would state running "32 bit OS".

Available Physical Memory 2.62 GB (has posted above) is one of the common mem size to computers running 4GB and above RAM with 32 bit Win 7.

That said, on "eMachines" anything is possible they were the "Yugos" of computers.

oh and one more thing, do i plug the ram card into the purple or red slot on my motherboard?
and it does have all slots filled so how can i tell the diffrence between 2 and 1 gb slots? it's the same setup that came install from stock right from wallmart.

Sigh. I told you to take a look at your RAM, to tell us what is installed currently.

Now you tell us, that you already ordered the RAM, but all of your RAM slots are full? I wish you would have told us that BEFORE you ordered.

That means that two of your RAM sticks are 2GB in size, and two are 1GB in size. You'll have to remove one of the 1GB sticks, giving you an un-even 7GB of RAM.

If you had told us that all four RAM slots were already full, then I would have said don't bother ordering more.

I went back, and looked at the mobo that I linked inthe other PSU thread, and I just noticed that that particular board only has two slots. I had been assuming that your board has four slots, because it was unusual for OEMs to use 4GB DDR2 DIMMs.

Can you open up your system, and take a picture of your motherboard, and link it here, using an image-upload service?

It would be helpful to know how many RAM slots you have, and how many are full.
