A friend of mine set up his website on a random reseller whose deal seemed too good to be true. The reseller has not only suspended the site arbitrarily, but continues to sell web hosting through Authorize.net and Paypal desipte not responding to queries and customer support request. It's clear whoever is running the site is gone - when attemping to contact the address listed with the website's domain name, I got a "return to sender - no forwarding address" letter. What's worse is he registered his domain name through this site, and this site put his info as the user but then put a lock on it.
I've found out where the webhost leases their server from - should I go about contacting them to stop what is the equivalent of ongoing fraud? Is having false contact information enough to get the domain pulled, or at least the reselling of domain names through their own nameservers pulled? Any actual person at ICANN I could get without paying a ridiculously high arbitration fee?
