From Wikipedia:

A microprocessor incorporates the functions of a computer's central processing unit (CPU) on a single integrated circuit (IC),[1] or at most a few integrated circuits.[2] All modern CPUs are microprocessors making the micro- prefix redundant.

The microprocessor is one step in the long trend of integration.

That reminds me of the "BBC Micro". With a DOS 2 or something. Around 1985.

I remember visiting a Radio Shack in 1979, where I saw one of their "micro-computer" offerings. It seemed like you had to buy the whole desk. I remember chuckling: 'Why would I ever need something like that?"

I became deeply immersed in the emerging technology barely 2+ years later. They still called them "microcomputers."

And -- yeah. "PC-DOS." "MS-DOS."
