Problim installing Xp SP1 from windowsupdate.com

just got the new rig together and am trying to update windows useing winupdate, i go to dl/install sp1 express and it dls fine and backs up my files fine and begins its install and it give me an error saying "cant initilize .catalog files " and it give me a "OK" box and then it quits

not haveing anyother issues always worked fine in the past, and yes i have a legit copy of Xp Pro

Try downloading the full installation and running it locally.

nope that didnt work either says "failed to install catalog files"

fusking A looks like im reformatting and installing AGAIN

this will be the 3rd time im gonna install tonight, first one didnt go cause apperently i now have a bad stick of ram, hopefully crucials lifetime warrently will fix that tomorrow

My guess is you have some corruption of cat files during installation due to that bad stick of ram.

yea the ram if most likely teh issue, fusked up something druing install, anyway before i reformat again i decedid to see how well i can OC

it booted into windows at 11x200 AMD Mobile 2400+ shuttle AN35N Ultra on stock voltages and agressive ram timeings

im gonna run sandra and see what happens

shut it i said i was planning on formatting so 😛

ram dan just go bad whenever it wants and ive had ram die in macs also

well reformatted again with teh 1 working ram chip i have and it installed fine

stupid stupid ram
