After getting my 6600gt and waiting anxiously I got it put in and worked good... well while playing Counter-Strike I would experience sudden fps fall down to about 20 and fram skips. The card seems to work fine but I really don't think it's working to its full potential. I have a AMD 2600+ thoroughbred non-overclocked, abit nf7-s, 1gb (2x512) Geil Value ram pc3200. Is there anything you might think that is keeping this video card from really working to its full potential? Oh and I have a 300W powersupply with the the power cord plugged into the video card. PLEASE reply if you know what the heck might be going on here.. I need it fixed QUICK!

Welcome to the Forums 🙂 Does that happen even when you play offline with your Internet connection disabled (meaning, computer fully unplugged from the modem)?

yes... I dont know what the problem is 🙁 I was thinking that it could be the CPU but I don't want to go buy a CPU and it do the same thing. I do meet all the System requirements too. I was going to buy a new monitor soon should I look for a DVI one because this is a dual DVI setup?

What brand and model of power supply is that 300W, out of curiosity? There is a huge range of quality out there with power supplies; wattage is not the whole story. I'd take a 300W Antec over a 550W --excuse me, a "550W" Powmax 😛

BTW... I just tried it with the internet connection disabled and it seemed to be a little better but not by much. Do you think it could be the CPU? Name anything else you might think it could be because im open for any suggestions now

Friend, can I recommend you hook up with a nice ~400W Enermax, Antec or Fortron power supply 🙂 Powmax, it seems like any time someone needs troubleshooting help and their system contains a Powmax unit, guess what the problem turns out to be? Yeah. That's been my overall experience, anyway.

Thanks... I think I will be paying a visit to the local computer shop tomorrow... HOPEFULLY it will fix the problem... ill post if it fixes it 😛

UGH, a Powmax 300watt?? You definitely have to buy a good name-brand power supply!

I've had a ton of those garbage power supplies die over the years and i wouldn't take one for free.

Grab yourself a good Antec, Thermaltake, Enermax, Sparkle, Fortron, OCZ brand power supply and you should be good to go. 🙂
