Problems with Zonealarm firewall and BOINC

Some of the versions of the ZoneAlarm free firewall have some issues with WIN XP SR 2 and SR3. The computer (i.e. Firefox, IE-explorer, MSN, BOINC etc) all loose internet connection.

The problem has been recognized by the devs of Zonealarm and an update is posted.

A critical ZoneAlarm Security Update is now awailable. This update is required to resolve a problem with the Microsoft Update KB951748, which may cause loss of internet access for ZoneAlarm users on Windows 2000 and XP.

Here is a link to more info and a work-around.

So far so well.

But the load on Zonealarm's download server is so great that it takes time to get the new version.

I have - for the time being - disabled and uninstalled Zonealarm. I propose that you either install some other Firewall or use - for a short time - the firewall included in Win XP.

If anyone's looking for a good firewall you could try Comodo. I've been using it for awhile now and find it much better than zonealarm, it's also free.
