I have an older AGP 4x/8x Abit IS7-G Motherboard that I'm trying to get working with an the ATI X1600 XT.
I have removed all previus video card driver software (NVIDA GeForce 6400).
I have removed ALL ATI software and installed the latest drivers, etc.
I have updated my Motherboard's chipset drivers as well.
Here is what is happening:
I install the card in the AGP slot and boot. Upon entering Windows, the card is detected and I click cancel when I'm prompted by the Hardware wizard. I then manually install, as detailed in the instructions, the latest Catalyst software.
After rebooting, the resolution is a bit higher but, it is not running at the maximum my Dell 2405 is capable of displaying (1900 x 1200) and the bit depth is only 16. I also get a dialog box saying that "No ATI graphics drivers were found or that there is a problem preventing them from functioning properly."
In device manager, both DVI connections are detected and and there are no exclaimation marks.
My previous card was an NVIDIA GeForce Ti 6400 that runs at full 1900 x 1200 with no problems, but is terrible at displaying 1080p material. I'm not a gammer so gaming performance is unimportant.
The only thing I haven't done is update my BIOS, but I've looked through the latest release notes and don't see anything that might impact this. Is this Motherboard just too old to run with this card? Shoud I risk a BIOS update for this? What is another card that would give me better HD and h.264 performance?
