problems with x windows

I just loaded red hat 7.0 with gnome and am having problems with the Xconfigurator.

My computers specs:
AMD 1200
Gigabyte 7DX-C Mobo
256 DDR
ATI Rage Xpert 16MB PCI
ATI TV Wonder ve
Samsung SyncMaster 955DF

I am thinking that I have the incorrect driver because I have a Rage 128 PCI card instead of the AGP but red hat automatically finds the v card and doesn't let me choose another driver/card. Also I was thinking maybe my TV card was causing the V. Card to act up?? When I type in X I don't even get a low res "safe mode" screen. All what I get is a message saying that X Windows failed. I would really appreicaite it if someone could help me with my problem.

By the way, the error I am getting is in module v4l

The refresh rates for your monitor/video may be incorrect, this can cause X to abort. You will probably need to prove a lot more info before anyone can help you.

I am thinking that this problem is being cased by my tv wonder because when I was serching linux knowlege bases they kept on refering to the v4l file as a file to enable one to have a tv card to work. I am installing linux 7.0 and I also have a usb mouse and keyboard (both microsoft) ... would this cause any of the problems i am facing. Also, if I find a patch (.rpm) file, how do I place this file into linux. I can not mount my flopply when i type mount /floppy and when i go to the mnt directory and floppy i can not acess the drive...
