Problems with WINXP and my Network

Ok, here's the problem,

Everytime I boot up from a hard boot, my computer does not connect to the network in our house, and it's retting rather annoying to have to goto network and "repair" the connection.

Anybody have any Ideas what could be going on?

I'm almost positive there was some update for XP having to do with networking maybe look in to that. But I could be wrong just trying to help out.

Ah well, it's a moot point anyways, Earthlink DSL makes you connect to the internet each time you start up the computer anyways

*sigh*

Thanks guys

XP networking is a lot more bitchy than its NT/2000 predecessors. First of all, like win2k, you have to have accounts on your XP machine made for every other machine. Secondly, the two must be in the same workgroup and the other win98/winme machines must be logged in with a user name (the user name must also be the name of one of the accounts you've created on the XP machine). After all this, you also need TCP/IP as the default (and preferably only) network protocol on your network. There are a lot of other things to do. I'd suggest you pop in the XP cd on your 98/ME machines and run the home network wizard.
